My other car, Evo content! 1/4 mile action
#31
Little update on this,

Discovered one of the wheels was a bit bent so had that sorted and then today spent 5 hours washing, claying and waxing it ready for winter
[Image: Clean2_zps04cdc9c7.jpg]

Also fitted a pair of LED sidelights as managed to bag a pack of 10 for £2 off ebay lol

Thinking of a few carbon bits next, although the rear diff is getting slightly noisy so that willprobably have to be sorted first

Never taken it on the strip and neither did the previous owner so not sure tbh!
I would guesstimate a low 12 or possibly a high 11 is possible with a good launch, going by what other people have run with similar spec

Bit of an update as some bits have arrived,

Recaro speed "confetti" drivers seat, the original seat is a bit tatty so that'll be going in the 306 at some point.
Going to try this new seat in first as not sure now its here that its going to suit the car but we will see.

Also discovered today that the car has had launch control added on the ecu, so guess what iv been doing earlier today lol!

Looming good Paul

I do love a evo especially the early one like yours,I hear about transfer box go and cost serious money to get rebuild just from a few bad launches which scares me about owning one.

Have you any experience with evo3s?

I have the chance to get one at reasonable money.

The only thing is they look very max power, despoilering them might make them look ok

Not personally no.
I do like the 3's but don't despoiler it, that's sacralige!

I know the engines aren't as strong as the later models but swapping over isn't too difficult supposedly.
Suppose it comes down to the overall condition of the car and what money it's going for, good early evo's are becoming very rare

I do like the evo, but i am with you on the cosworth, but give me a Sierra RS 500 any day.

Two of my friends just bought an EVO 4 each, seems to be the "latest thing".

Both are white and slightly modified but no power mods such as turbos/injectors/fueling/mapping.

Not that fast in standard form but would love to have a go in one running 350+ or one like yours, probably a whole different story!

Came very close to buying my mates VII RS when I had my S14a 200sx, but the insurance was absolutely ridiculous in comparison. Now have a mate with a built VI, 2 mates with VIII MR340'S mapped 400+, and another mate who is nearly finished his big build IX which should see 550+

They're constantly, ditch your car's and get an evo lol. I have a lot of friends with very fast cars......2 in fact with near on 700 bhp RS4's, but the power delivery of a 400 bhp evo is absolutely snap your head back stuff, and the way they handle, in the wet just defies the laws of science lol.

Hmmm think I've just talked myself into my next car, have been looking at e39 m5's Wink

I had a stock Evo 6 and it didn't seem that quick either, until you look down at the speedo!
If your mates car's are running standard Evo 4 engines then be aware of crank walk, most people tend to fit 5 onwards in them.

I may up the power at some point to around the 500 mark but tbh 400 with virtually the same torque is "enough" for the road lol

Happy with results mate? Having been in couple of Evo 8's with circa 400 and a 7 RS with 360 I'd say that is enough power, I've said before to others, the way evos deliver the power, I don't think much can match a circa 400hp one

I've driven a few GTRs in work that would. Shame as everything feels ordinary after those!

See I find gtr's, dare I say it, bit dull. Think it's cos they feel so in control.....I like the feeling that I'm about to die pmsl.

My friend has a series 2 RS Turbo with over 300bhp and it scares the shit out of me lol

Trust me a genuine 900+bhp on vpower GTR is not dull... Kind of warps your reality a bit

But then flat out in my XSi on b roads can be equally as intense Big Grin

Just a shit load slower

It's about the sort of power I expected but a lot of people are saying it should do at least 420, recommending to change the boost control so the ecu looks after it rather than the gizmo controller.
Probably something il look into at some point
