Winter and snow tyres

As a few of you know ive recently bought a hairdressers car

its tail happy at the best of times but aparently in the winter when its icy its deadly!

ive been doing some research into the best winter tyre and a brand called nokian came up

has any one had any experience using them? and do people have any other recommendations on winter tyres?

oh and they have to be 14s as im getting another set of wheels for every day tyres

Just bang some Rainsports on it and get the geometery all realigned - the problem with everything being adjustable on an MX-5 is it's often all over the shop after a while, then they are seriously tail happy in the wet because the rear wheels tend to toe out over time with wear and tear.
Custom roll cages/shiny suspension bits/general fabrication work undertaken, PM me.
Top engine mount repair/reinforcement/chocking for cracked chassis and high powered cars, drive in, drive out, 2 hour turnaround.

Dunlops have always been spot on, generally get a very high rating,

Nokian is the shit, built for OUR types of winter, not the brittish sissy kind ;-)
They are not a cheap brand, quite the opposite to be honest but they are very good at what they do, I run Nokian hakkapellitta R, and have been doing so for about a decade.

Cant beat Kleber or Gislaved snow tires Smile

Hankook seem good but them you use the above and realise your a morron Wink

Hankook were used for many years on the wrc and national rallies for a reason.
To be fair...I'm not on them now but they were the best snow tyre I ever drove on.

I used to use them but now use Gislaved (swedish brand) Smile

Run some Kleber's on a 1.8 tddi focus the year before last through the winter and found them to be pretty damn good

Pretty sure those links are for part worns but they do show the tread pattern Smile

Cold weather tyres are a must! It should be the law like it is in Sweden etc.

Just to check, is it common knowledge to you guys that there are three (at least) different classes if winter tyres? European friction, Nordic friction and studded?

I knew there was studded but i believe they are illegal for public highway use in Great Britain, I could be wrong though.

This. Costs a few quid to get one properly set up but the difference is like night and day, especially if it's been lowered because that throws it all out.
