306 cambelt mileage

Hello I've just bought a 2nd 306 hdi now. I see a lot of different mileage for cambelt kit changes 36k 40k 60k 70k 80k and 90k?

80k is fine.

That's good to know as the car mileage is 117,000miles and it was changed at 88,000miles.

I think 5 year is apropriet, depending on the use of the car. I do mine every 60.000 KM

It's 8 years for normal use, i don't understand the second question.

You can see if the cambelt is perished but it's not worth the risk of not changing it. It in doubt change it

The belt probably wont be perished even after 120k tbh, its a preventative measure more than waiting for it to be on the edge of snapping.

I've had a few over 100k on the original belts that still looked alright...the crank pulley will snap the belt long before old age does. Tongue

Depends who you talk to, Haynes says 86, peugeot says 80, autodata says 90, etc. (Not the actual numbers, but gives you the gist.)

Dont think my crank pulley has ever been changed and mines on 146k
