That looks more like the spring has just snapped off? Difficult to tell. The unit could be siezed too though.
The spring assembley is no longer available from Peugeot but it just unbolts and can be swapped over. I had a garage get a custom spring put on as mine was also snapped and I didn't want it to be an issue at MOT. They are in Oxfordshire though so probably a bit far from you!

The spring is in one piece but at the bottom where it attached to the beam the road has snapped it is also about 3 inches past the top of the spring so reckon it is seized lol
