i will be honest i may have been a tad ambitious. i am an ex smoker. i used exercise as an escape from wanting a fag. im still no where near as fit as id like to be for this tough.

I have a habit of doing that, I'm signed up for a half iron distance triathlon at the end of August...so far I've run 8km and ridden about 40km. Once. I've got to be able to ride 85 and run 21...

My apprentice kindly pointed out at my hieght of fitness I was able to run 15 km. This is 20 km plus obstacles. I get my first beer this year at the end though. Encouragement if I saw it

I'm trying to push towards one of these and a half ironman but I've done f*ck all since FCS due to the heat and just being lazy.

Trying to push myself to do an olympic distance triathlon before the end of the summer.

Just keep pushing yourself in training, if you can run the distance you'll do the obstacles.

My 8k run this week was the furthest I've gone since August last year, so it's amazing what the body can do.

Just focus on that beer !

See id like to do a triathlon because I cycle a lot and distance on a bike is easy for me. Running I find ok. But swimming. Well I sort of start sinking after a short distance

Try a sprint tri, 400m in a pool is only 16 lengths so about 10 minutes swimming.

Yeah, the first time I tried to run 10K i did alright on the first half (usually run 5k) but the second half I still ran 70% of and got home in under an hour, was well proud of myself, want to get up to running the whole of that distance.

I'm similar mate although my run is probably my weekness on a short distance. I was slow onthe swim but made a load of places back up on the bike before loosing half of them on the run.

Yep, thats what I did for my first Tri. Did a sprint triathlon, 300m pool swim, 22k bike and a 5k run and finished in under 1hr 24m
9:20 in the pool, 2:40 in the first transition (failed at putting socks on), 44:33 on the bike, 1:40 in the second transition and 25:37 on the run

I felt like I could of pushed harder in places and got close on the 1hr 20m mark

They also do super sprint triathlons that are about half the above distances
