Knock Knock.....

Been chasing a knock on off side front for last 2 weeks, any ideas?

Was a heavy knock on hard bumps, changed w/bone bushes - got better but not gone.
Got worse over next 2-3 days and found some play in track rod end so changed it - has got even better but still not gone and possibly hear a bit of a rumble now also.

Sounds a bit like a w/bearing but with a knock also!?

Would like to have a better idea if poss before I end up changing the whole lot!

I concur with the majority, you've ruled almost everything else out now, top mount sounds like the most obvious culprit.

Not sure how common these are to go?

Have a gti 6 arb and new oem bushes to fit though so will try those 1st.

Replaced with wish bone and bushes

Just wondering what symptoms of top mount bearings might be? or best to replace the whole lot anyway?

Just to round this one off - it was top mount&bearing.

Changed Shocks and springs to Eibachs so replaced mounts and bearing s both sides. Mount and bearing on one side shot to bits.

Now drives better than new!
