right am i missing something here, cant seem to be able bolt anything down. or is the plate just miles out?

Turn the plate over or around something like that sure I did same as you, but I did have to elongate the holes on manifold slightly because they was still off

Flip it over.
However because your manifold is an egr one it may hit your adaptor plate.
I made my own adaptor plate (for TD04) and had to cut the egr portion of my manifold off and weld it up in order for the plates to fit.
