I've heard taking the engine out saves weight and makes the car faster.

yeah got new engine in, but it would struggle to start, completely forgot to swap pump. after swapping pump, cambelt was wabbling, and car was a bit smokey, double checked the timing but it was the fuel pump pulley and the pump needed to be advanced. also realized the diesel in the tank was over 2 years old!
