Skimming head
#1
As most of you know I've spat a rod or 2

When I built the engine I had the head skimmed and new valve stem seals put in

Question is will it need skimming again or cani just clean it up put a new headgasket on and bolt it onto a block with more conrods and less holes Smile

Cheers

have you looked at the head yet?
i think i would leave questions untill ive seen the valve/head face's

but yes you can put the head on another block but check the head is flat and true first

If it was fine before as long as its not cooked and no pistons destroyed it no reason it shouldn't still be fine just check it with a flat gauge

even without seeing it I cant imagine it will be in great shape after such catastrophic bottom end failure

Only damage ive ever done is bend valves....rod failure at worst will just put piston up against the valve, but in general this donst even happen due to boost blowing the pistons down the bores, hence why the pistons all end up munched up up the bottom first...

No reason to need to skim it unless you cooked it, which you didnt.
