Estate rear speakers?
#1
I had the trim off the inside of the tailgate of my estate the other day, and had a look at the speakers.

They're odd, aren't they? 4x6" things. Any straight-forward replacements for them? I've already got some decent Pioneers in the front doors.

Also, any suggestions on how to fit some sort of cargo net into the boot? I'm thinking of putting one down the driver's side, against the wheel arch. I'm just not sure where to get an elasticated bit of net from. A camping shop maybe? I hardly ever have the boot totally full, so something to hold a couple of bags of shopping to stop them spilling all over the shot would be nice. lol

I really wouldn't bother changing the rear speakers in the estate.

5x7 and ive put 6x9 in, mounted onto the tailgate trim, so not worth it. Looks worse and now the trim squeeks all the time because of the weight.

I forget the size but Id be looking at getting MDF spacers made to go between the matal of the boot and the plastic trim and then mounting 6x9s on top of the plastic trims with their own grilles over them just to stop the rattles.

As for the cargo nets look through the boots of cars in the scrap yard, think the mondeo mk2 has a good one.
Ive got a plastic box in my boot held down with bungies but im tempted by an ammo box.

You could make a decent net if you got several meters of bungee cord off ebay. I once made myself a hammock so can make a decent net if you want some pointers. You get the bonus with making it yourself that you can make the holes the size you want.

yeh its 5x7 iirc. i bought some supposed 5x7s from halfords but they were still to big! i had to cut down the speaker surrounds to fit them in. They are no better than the original ones! I cant hear a noticeable difference. Ill upload some pics...
