You can't sell big petrols for much..... They won't go up in value, no matter how much you try polishing it.
I always take selling into consideration, hence being so picky about tidy bodywork and decent spec when buying. I know I won't be keeping them more than a year, infact it's a surprise when they last more than 6 months!
I've also never really lost money selling a car, think the most I lost was £200 on my 2nd car (Y reg 1.4 heap). So for me its more efficient to stick with diesels and spend less on fuel. That may not be the case for everyone though.
