Er... i think ill stick to rivets and then spray some diablo paint in a pot and brush it on the top of it. Yeh the backboxes are the same as far as im aware but this one had a shiny tip... and also looks very silly as it is wonky and you can clearly see the tube inside the tip! FAIL!

Anyway on overrun it sounds epic so im thinking with a race tube and a sportex backbox itll be awesome! Big Grin

Nah. Some meridians had the horrible pipe where as some had the gti exhaust. Same with the xs I think. Mine had to original gti exhaust but grants had the boring one.

Finally.... i swapped the two wings over! Big Grin

heres a before including a toms306!

heres a middle...

and here is the end result!

somewhere amongst the wing change i found the second horn loom so took the horn off the 1.4 and fitted it! It is truly awesome and i took a few videos which ill put in a guide somewhere!

and next we moved onto sorting out the gearstick problem... turns out the plastic section the metal ball fits into just pops out of place :/ So we pushed it back in and all was fine! Turns out i can break it and fix it by pulling and pushing!

and then... the centre plastics were all scratched up from presumably the previous owner having a dog in the passenger footwell. Anyway i swapped those over for my plastics (finding a lady gaga album in that place where everyone loses Cds). My old plastics had the secret button...

that controlled the footwell neons in the 1.4. Needless to say i whipped those off and put them straight into the 1.8! And thus my awesomeness was doubled.

Big thanks to Tom for coming over and helping!

Forgive my ignorance, can you just put the rivets back in with one of those manual push-downy things?

both of my phase 3s did! Just check! There should be a panel on the passenger side bumper that you can take out and have a look inside! Ive now written a guide to fitting a second horn! Wink

Tbh the rivets don't actually do anything, the wing is on really secure without them anyway.

Just got some drilled and grooved front and rear discs for £50 posted on ebay. Hopefully they will look sweet even if they dont actually add any performance.

Today i bought 2 cans of ford sea grey to spray up various interior trims etc and a can of diablo for no other reason that its always goo to have a can!
Also bought a small pot of red hammerite smooth to paint the calipers with! Red calipers and drilled and grooved discs should look epic!

Other things.... stripped the 1.4 and boxed up all the parts so those are ready to bring to FCS for a bit of bargaining! Car needs a good clean as loads of tree crap has landed on it and in other news nothing at all has happened with the speedboat. ive been letting it dry out for the past few weeks and its pretty dry now. Just got to source some marine ply and get cracking! Big Grin

To Do:
Paint Calipers
Fit Drilled and grooved Discs
Fit Alarm LED
Redo fog on high switch

Maybe:
Re-retrim the headlining
Refurb Cyclones

oh and i almost forgot! I ordered 4 FCS tickets! Cant wait! Big Grin

I neede to replace the lower centre console around the gearstick as it was scratched to feck and there was a switch inside the ash tray bit... and then... then.... then the cables lead to footwell neons whistle

In all fairness you cant see them and they come on with the headlights and are on a switch so you can turn them off. Left over from the 1.4 then why not! Wink

Right here we go... yesterday tom came over AND DEC. Thats right! He actually turned up!

4 Diablos on the drive...

Tom got the skirts off for Decs car, i swapped decs locks over so he doesnt need my key to open his doors!

De-locking like a pro!

Er... tom did a brilliant job stripping... things off the 1.4.

and we decided to completely dismantle our mirrors and spray the black bits so they didnt fade!

We then went to the scrap yard and got nothing apart from dec who found a USB stick in a chavved up audi. Turned out it had porn and hindi music on it! D: Tom went home and me and dec had pizza whilst dec reconstructed his mirrors. Then on the way back we went to the airfield, swapped cars and had a drag race. Turned out the cars were completely even!

Today i finished stripping the 1.4 so ill ring for that to be collected tomorrow. Managed to get half a can of petrol out of the fuel tank too! Sucked it twice and didnt get a moutful of petrol too! Like a baws!

I also fitted my newly sprayed mirrors! Whilst stripping the 1.4 I got a shout so got out from under the car to find that my drilled and grooved discs had arrived! £50 delivered from ebay. Gave them a quick rub down and decided to spray the inside of the rear discs before putting them on.

This is them originally...

And now (to come)

It was 9.30pm by the time i finished one side and painted one of the front calipers with hammerite smooth red. Not sure if i like it as it makes the car look a bit tacky but i guess ill paint them and then i can always nitromors them back to metal!

More to come but it was 10pm when i got in!

Ok part 2... got the bonnet and hinges off the 1.4 and also found a MAP sensor on it that is the same as the 1.8 one so ive got another spare if it eats its current one again!

some long awaited shots of shiny painted things....

and of course the FCS sticker is on!

Right jacked up the passenger side and fitted the new discs on the front no problem however then rounded the single disc bolt on the rear so stole one of the two from the front to hold the back one on.

Front:
Back:

Still got to paint the rear calipers. Also i fixed the rattling which was the passenger side rear disc protector wobbling around and catching on the disc. Turned out it didn't have any bolts holding it on at all! So 2 bolts and locking nuts later its firmly in place!

Got to go out now to pick mum up so hopefully i wont find that the discs are warped etc when i drive off!

Nice progress with this, painting the centre of the discs is a bit of a fail though, your wheels will end up very well attached to your car now anyway lol
