Help?

The problem. I had a battery in the car when I had the jump lead on it the car would start with no problem them the car woul cut out after 10 there would still be just enough charge in the battery to start again but 10 mins later the same. I asked around and I was tol the battery was shot so I got another batter just a halfords one. I went to work an left the CD player on for a couple of weeks. Now the battery is dead again so I put the leads on again and the same happened cuts out after 10 but the battery is not holding any charge now but It did with the old one. Any help would be great thanks. For got to say when the car is running there is a ticking noise from the fuse box inside the car.

When its running, check the voltage across the battery terminals. Should be 14.4v

Sounds like a dead alternator.

Try not to use it loads aswell, you might cock up a new battery :/
