People in work pestering me about cycling to work! No! I want a VEGmobile!
Now, im a fussy boy, was looking for 406 executives (heated leather, digital climate control) but there arent any in the important 1.9TD variant that means I can use Veg in them.
Can anyone suggest another car, of similar 306/406 size, that will have fancy stuff and a bosch pump so I can commute to Wales doing 45mpg on £1 a litre veg oil, rather than 35mpg on £1.40 a litre petrol!

Similar size to a 306/406.. that has an engine enabling you to run veg... Hmm.. sounds like you need a 306 with a 1.9 DT lump mate

Thought of that, but I want Saab comforts!
Climate control (inc air con that works!!) is a must for a big fat sweaty man like me!
I also like leather and will have nippers soon, so needs to be easily cleanable!
My first car was a 306 XRDT, had a lucas pump though, such an easy car to service, didnt even need to jack it up!!

Cant find a 2.1 either! all the 406's I can find are HDi!
406OC seems to imply that a 2.1 would need a pump change, but I only read that bit before I had a little strop and stopped reading!!

They do for running on veg as they have a Lucas pump. Then you'll need a pre 1997 ECU and still have to deal with a wonkey speedo....
How about a 605 2.5TD/Croma 2.5TD/? Bosch pumped, van engined cars FTW!!!

surly it would be easy to upgrade the interior of a lesser spec'd 406 to an exsecutive spec with little work?

Depends if wiring loom for heated electric seats and climate gubbins is present.
Extra wiring is there on the 306! But might not be, could check 406oc I guess
Can only find a 605 2.1 on ebay, and its in manchester

the 405 estates are the ones everyone wants, therefore the saloons go for peanuts, seen minters with tax and test going for less than £300, if you look at the glx spec cars they usually have a bosch pump, leccy windows, looms for heated seats, cruise control etc

No climate control though? How reliable is the air con in the 405?

the air con seems to be more robust than on 306's, all my 405s so far have had working air con

Different looms for rear elec windows, no looms for seats, different plugs/wire colours for the same part, almost nowhere to run wires through the bulkhead....
Fun fun fun...
