How much to lower by?
#1
Hi guys, I hope I'm posting this in the right section. Basically I'm putting some 15" pro race 1.2's with 195 55 rubber. I want the car low and wondered what springs etc people have used to get the wheel in the arch and looking respectable? I was thinking 60mm but thought I'd ask first :-)
Cheers
Dan

Sorry guys I wrote that wrong...they're 195 50's. Looks good on 55's though I must say. As for the springs...what are you able to get hold of? I can do all the lowering myself ;-)

60mm looks sick but you will scrape. ive ruined my front bumper now. With 60mm youll scrape the arches with 55 profiles so youll ned to drop down to 50 profiles. Which are the cheapest tyres anyway.
40mm is just as good handling wise but doesnt look as low.

Yeah, careful of going 60mm - its not for the faint hearted that's for sure!

I meant 50 profiles lol. They turned up today...195 50 15 Uniroyal rain sport 2 ;-) rate these highly as I've got them on my other toy. Think I'm gonna go for 60...how bad can it be Smile

Seriously it will be fine. Personally id get it on coilovers and be going for ~80mm, but 60mm looks good for the price of a cheap set of springs Smile

I'm glad someone said that! Was thinking 80mm lol would be comfortably low ;-) ideally I'd like coilovers but need to find myself a bargain pair as I'm going it on a tight budget Smile

60mm saxo/106 springs will drop a 306 ~70/80mm, slightly too lower spring rates because theyre intended for a lighter car, but you really wont notice on a road car tbh

Basically gonna try and do it till either the wheel disappears in the arch lol. Might have to be coilovers...I do like a stiffer ride...not keen on soft springs tbh but thanks for the advise anyways man.

I thought I had coilies on mine, turned out I be spaxo springs.

Okay pal not to worry. Want it to handle reasonably well so may go springs...if I can find coilovers then that's a bonus Smile

Well it's cheaper to go springs Smile
And mine isn't to bad, got a f*cked rear beam mount but that's a different story :L
Where are you from?

Sorry but there's no way 60mm catches on 55 profiles, I know for a fact that Carl is running 60mm on 55's and has no issues, and I'm running 60mm on 205/45/16's with no issues either.

Get the rear lowered on some bigger TB's, that looks so much like mine did, it'll also stop 99% of the catching on the bumper, mine was getting silly with standard rear, 60mm front and a laguna splitter, scraped everywhere!

Yeah I not long put a new rear beam on mine as I had serious camber and the wheel rubbed through my liner :p I'm in the Woking area mate where about are you? Ideally I'd like to go coilovers as I can get the perfect level...but springs may have to do with this budget Wink are there many uprated TB's out there then? Never looked....

I'm in Suffolk, I say go springs. Decent springs are better than cheap coilies

Rear is being lowered at weekend!
But to be fair usually I have enough stuff in it that its weighed down to be sat level anyway!
