TD04 Spool
#1
How would you go about making the spool of a td04 kick in at much lower revs? Could it be done via the pump? And would they be anywere near that of a kkk for example?

I think you need to read up on how turbos work.

If you want it to kick in faster get a smaller turbo Smile

Td04s take longer to spool but worth the wait 100%

Unless you're planning on supercharging, or plumbing a much smaller turbo to pull through it, the answer is no.

They're old tech turbos, designed to work on a petrol engine and give the flow for power higher in the revs, so the application is not perfect on an xud, however it's pretty good for a cheap relatively easy to install turbo.

If you want more spool earlier in the revs, you want to be looking either at much newer gen turbos, or VNTs. Basically something more tailored to your application. However the above 2 options carry their own drawbacks (price & control of the vnt mechanism respectively).

Basically if you want something that's better suited you need to do a lot of research!!

The spool time on my td04 was a bout 300rpm after my k14.. And it blew all the way to 5.5-6K.

People that moan about spool time being to late on a TD04 either need to get a better gov mod or MTFU and rev it higher!

Lol, this ^

Everyone harps on about how Diesels don't rev, so they stick on a TD04 and then complain that they have to rev the bollocks off it to make it go anywhere.

LOLWAT.
