Map is the one that sits on top of the manifold right next to the throttle body. Will have either a blue or black label on top and has a 3 wire plug.

Just fit that, service it and if it's still playing up, we will plug it in at fcs and see what the game is.

Well ok, that may be a little harsh, but she has her time doing housework, cooking and other things women enjoy, its only fair you have your time...

Besides, if you didnt do these things, the car would be useless, therefore rendering it a waste of money... Think how pissed she would be then...

Just my justification lol

i'm gonna leave it for now, see when I can drag up the enthusiasm to go to Curt's to get the sensors plugs and coils. i know it *should* be an easy job, but after the rear beam swap which should've been a doddle, I'm pretty hesitant to even attempt the simplest jobs for a little while....

		Right.
I popped out this evening to fit my new tyres on the nad, and then thought whilst out there I'd pop the icv from my old '6 on to see if it solved the aforementioned issue....

It now idles well, which is great; definitely an improvement, but the issue is still there... I had a bit of a play and got a video of the issue. It seems that the throttle is not progressive; if you gently open the throttle as in the video, the revs raise very slowly, then suddenly shoot up to 2.5-3k....

Another thing; the engine seems to 'bog' more than the old one did when opening the throttle wide quickly to 'blip' it...

now are these symptoms just a result of the reduced back-pressure from the exhaust (2 straight-through boxes and a 2-1 winpipe)? Or could the symptoms be tps-related?

Anyways, enough whittering, video:

As always, any ideas much appreciated.

IMO could still be a faulty MAP sensor

When you open the throttle the amount of air flow increase isnt directly proportional to the degrees of throttle opening.

This is more pronounced on engines with big throttle bodies ie the GTi6.

If it didn't, it will when he restarts it. I removed it with the crane on the cambelt. Skipped a few teeth. No biggie
