Tried to track my front wheels (after two tyres fitted) but couldnt shift either track rod...recommended judicious application of heat (but alas I have no welding gear)and I was sent away....how does one proceed?

Go to an indy garage to have them heated and free'd off...

yeah as said, go to a garage that know what they're doing

I should have sussed it when i saw where the mole grips had slipped....

It took a set of pipe grips, and a lump hammer and normal hammer...Lump Underneath normal hitting on top over threads , end of threaded inner arm supported by lump hammer...They were TIGHT but heat not required...careful shock treatment! Jobs a good un!
