Mates just bought a 1.4 Phase three and the fans don't kick in, it just over heats! 

Any ideas?
1.9 diesel Phase 2 - scrapped
1.8 meridian Phase 3 - going strong!

Sounds like most 1.4s... lol

Try cleaning the chassis plug for fans, it's probably green and furry. Also check fuse in engine fusebox. Its possible the fan unit is just broken also.
