Clutch adjustment (Xud)

i dont have the self adjusting thingy ma-bob on my new cable for my citroen ZX.
so i am just wondering how you go about adjusting it?

i know the 10mm and 13mm nuts on the end of the cable are to with it but which way?

Tighten it (ie wind nuts clockwise) to bring the bite point higher on the pedal

Out of interest, what type of connection did the cable have at the pedal end. White plastic or a metal bullet looking thing?

Surely you only want to pull the cable tight then adjust the nut so it buts up against the clutch arm... otherwise the release bearing could be spinning constantly and would then wear out and fail prematurely...

Yes they spin all the time, but no they DONT spin under load...

You absolutely do not want much strain on the clutch when its released at all, when you release the clutch pedal you should be able to feel slight slop / play in the end of the arm,then you know you arnt raping the release bearing, end of the day, as long as there is enough tension to "release" the clutch enough to change gear etc, its fine, theres no need to tighten anymore, you are just wearing the bearing out, and reducing pre load on the clutch plate.
