Modern metal today is $hite compared with the stuff i grew up loving - these days its all shouting and screaming and you cant understand a fecking word they say - it's deffo not singing that's for sure. When i was buying Kerrang magazine as a spotty teen there were groups like AC/DC. Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Rose Tattoo, Whitesnake, KISS, Girlschool, M.S.G., Saxon, Judas Priest and many others but you could hear and understand the lyrics and the music had riffs, guitar solos, drum solos and it was cohesive - not like this $hite.
I wouldn't waste my money going to Download these days, incidentally that event used to be called Monsters Of Rock why they ever changed it is beyond me .... oh wait a minute that's right, the stuff they play there would give the term 'Rock' a bad rep

Yeah some is shit but i actually disagree with ash
I think the metal scene is evolving and getting better than ever
Trouble is bands like them dont exist anymore only kinda style like them i can think of that appeared lately is Airbourne
But noone buys thier music so while there may be a few fans left and as much of a shame as it is i think there wont be any more bands like that any more

I got a cd from metal hammer called "Great Southern Trendkill" and it is f*cking awesome the entire cd and thats how i fist heard of mayleen

im with 4way on that, the old stuff really is quality, theres no denying that, but so is the new stuff, and i think the way metal has evolved is great, and i still think you can hear the great riffs, solos and drum solos through it. sure sometimes you cant really understand what they're saying (specially with kvelertak ), but after a few listens of the band you get used to how they sing and are then able to understand it, and find that the lyrics are actually pretty good.
