A friend of mine told me about this site and he goes on about how great his 306 is and told me to check this place out.
Currently I drive an Alfa 147 but since having my eyes opened to what a 306 can offer I am very tempted to sell the most reliable car ever (honestly) and hop aboard the 306 bandwagon. If anyone has any advice that would be cool...
looking for something sporty but economical. Diesel (it'd be my first) considered but happy to have a petrol!
ta ta for now,
Jay

My advise... jump in feet first and get a Gti-6... you will DEFINITELY not regret it. I used one as a daily driver for 10 years. Most reliable car I've ever owned and every bit as fast on B roads as my Delta Integrale was. I could even coax 500 miles out of a tank of fuel if driven frugally.
I drive a 306 D Turbo at the mo and i like it... but its no comparison. (cue the backlash from die hard derv owners)
306 Gti-6 DO...IT.!

Welcome!
306's are fantastic. I sold my Mercedes to buy back my old 306 because i loved it that much! Great to drive, practical, the diesels don't cost anything to run and good for learning how to fix cars on!

yeh if you want power then get a gti6.
if you want something to work with and see real performance gains through modifying then get a hdi or a dturbo.

Sold my 306 for a Zr , therefore by the logic of 306>other cars it means Zr> 306 > other cars

welcome to the forum every ones helpfull on here
306's are good cars long as the works done right 1/2 the time they go bang or brake down because of bodges fitter error
i have a dturbo turned the fuel and bost up a bit and it dose the weekly work run 170ish miles on £20 and starts up every morning
buy a unmolested one if your looking at getting one imo and look under it for rot as they are getting to that age
your alfa must be worth a mint if its the only one that starts every day

306 is for life, not just for Christmas. On my fourth... One diesel, two 6s and a rallye.

You might want to reconsider the GTI6 in summer with that lovely A/C (provided it still working!)

Sometimes early in the morning I wonder why I drive a rattly old french car with misted up windows and no aircon, or in the mid afternoon baking in the summer sun with no aircon, with loads of road noise and interesting electronics issues....and then I put my foot down and it's all fine.

What engine does your 147 have? I'm a massive alfa fan and wouldn't mind a 2.0

I have windows and deodorant. f*ck A/C!
I guess I'm older than you, I like a comfy life as well
I have 55 profile tyres fitted if that counts as suspension?
