Noisy engine

Good morning all,

I have a question when I first start my engine in the morning it's extreamly loud and takes about 20 minutes to quieten down. Any ideas on what I can do to stop this?

In your intro thread you said you have a Y reg... So it's not an XUD, is it?

No it's a NAD, I think I've placed it in the wrong forum sorry

There isn't a NAD section from what I can see but mine is a 1.9

Confused....

If its a 1.9, i'd say its an XUD...but did they still use XUD's in the 2001 models? As for a NAD section, providing it is an XUD, you're in the right section. NAD would be an XUD9 (probably), but the turbo version is XUD9TE. Get a pic of your engine bay up, and we can determine from that what you're running.

The late 1.9 nads were DW8....more closely related to the DW10 hdi than the xud

Its something that could be added to the forum page imho...the "dw10/dw8" section as opposed to just the dw10 section

Adding dw8 to the dw10 like the xud section covers both turbo and nad

Ok got another question, I pulled over earlier on, left the car in neutral, engine running for a minute whilst I sorted my son out. Went to pull off and as I accelerated it made a noise as if it was rattling but only when I accelerated so I turned of the engine turned it back on and the noise was gone. Any ideas what it could have been?

clutch input shaft bearing and/or the thrust bearing does this sometimes, at least on suzukis..

Thanks I'll keep an eye out incase it happens again but get out and get under to listen better whilst the wife revs the engine to narrow down the area
