Hi all
Thought it time to post some photos of my project. I'm swapping an old turbocharged Fiat Twin cam for an XUD11 out of a Zantia as it will have more power and much better fuel economy.
just to give a flavour of as was (I built the teardrop for shows)
Ripping out the old
making a bit more space
modified LDV Pilot gearbox
fits nicely
plenty of clearance
will 3 inches be enough ground clearance?
bulkhead needs some more work
getting a bit smoother
have been making up some new bonnet catches and fitting a new bonnet(last one had an argument with some bushes in the rain last year) and need to replace the electronic pump for a Bosch

need the LDV gearbox and its not too tricky from there...I would think trans tunnel would need modding on the escort to accomodate it though.
That morris minor is guna be twisted in half with the torque!

Yep know about that I had a few lol and this one needs welding so was gonna go for a ford type 9 had ya cut tunnel
For that was on about the engine do you need different fly wheel for the spigot bearing or is there a hole in it for the ldv pilot gearbox was just thinking it would be pretty cool with a escort coaling up the road

The pilot has a spigot bearing which can be swapped for the bush in the end of the crank.

Great engine. Huge torque and will beat 60mpg on the motorway even in a heavy 306

The ease in making it rwd. And the fun to be had.with just a little modding to the pump etc. And ill be able to enjoy it twice as much as could with the twin cam. 23mpg towing the teardrop and then about half that when the lead foot kicks in. Didn't matter how I drove my passat or audi they still gave 45mpg average.

Very nice
Although I'd be trying to increase that ground clearance a bit..

I have had some 5mm and 10mm thick washers made to go between the engine mount rubber bushes so will be raising the engine up a tad when it goes back in, easier than re-doing the mounts at the engine
