Yea I think it is, KTC stuff.
Not many people can get rapesead oil at the price you get, I've not seen or heard of anyone round this way supplying it. Costco is a pretty good alternative, the price has been at that level for 18 months or so

soya oil aint great.
I rate them: rapeseed sunflower soya Wishes for more power...

The rating is mostly for it's 'gel point' which is the temperature at which it turns from an oil into a jelly like substance - and when your car won't start.
I think there's slightly more energy in rapeseed oil as well, so maybe abit more poke. Either way it's still slower than running on Dino, but then you're not buying it for performance you're buying it to save some dosh.

I've not used veg for a year now, but a quick look on ebay suggests wvo prices on there have crept down again.. Is that so?

Just syphoned in a load of KTC stuff from Costco, with a couple of litres of old engine oil as I'm too tight to buy 2 stroke. At £17.29 for 20 litres its worth a go, but they do have KTC rapeseed at £4.79 for 5 litres though. If anyone wants to meet me there when I'm going I can take guests in?

nah, i stopped that when i swapped pumps, im too lazy to filter it so it knackered my vane pump

Right, scratch that, don't use the KTC stuff. Driven over to the lakes today, by the time I got to Skipton the car was juddering on boost and couldn't rev over 3k. I changed the filter on Wednesday because it felt a bit sluggish, but there was still some Crisp n' Dry in there so I guess that watered it down a bit. Tank was only half full so I filled the rest with diesel (at £1.43!!!) and it's fine now. I thought it looked a bit thick and cloudy when I was pouring it in...

When I used to have d turbo I run 100% ktc for 4weeks and then I had the same issues you had, had to add 10liters of derv every time was fine with that never had an issue after that

Right, bit of an update on this. After I first tried the KTC Cooking oil (that's what's on the box, it's genetically modified soya oil), I said not to use it as I had an issue with misfiring/not revving over 3000. Well back in September I decided to try it again because I was skint, and I can only put it down to a duff fuel filter because it's been fine ever since! Been running literally 100% soya oil for 3 months/5000 miles with just a little splash (about 250ml) of 2 stroke per tank, no loss of power compared to sunflower or rapeseed (although obviously a slight drop compared to diesel), and no more difficulty starting than any other veg oil. Best test so far was a night with the car parked in an exposed spot when it got down to -6, double heat of the plugs then turned it over, fired first turn and just needed a little throttle for 30 seconds then it would run on it's own, although a bit lumpily. It always hunts for the first 5 minutes from cold no matter what veg oil I use.

I think your test was a fluke, it's going to gel up at some point. If you've ever seen veg thats properly gelled up you'll realise why it's not possible to run a car on the stuff.

Had quite a few nights of minus temperatures and thick ice on the cars mate, started first time every time. I mean fair enough I might have a problem if it hits -10 but how often is that?
