8k. Goes into the red at 6.5 or 7k dependant on the engine.

that explains it then my car has got dials of a hdi fitted to a petrol does this matter

correct if its idling at 1000rpm, it will still show 1000 on both dials but on the derv ones, it will just run off the clock
