bosch leaking derv

hi guys noticed a diesel smell driving the car earlier so had a look when i got home. seems to be leaking from this black pipe on the side of the pump. when ticking over i can see it coming out of the pipe but not sure why it is.





help please

check leak off return isn't split . .

If its acaully coming out that black vent thing, then your LDA needle seal has gone (to confirm take ldda cap off / remove the lda pin, and it will be full of diesel)

If thats not the case, then check as Matt said the leak off hose isnt leaking, and / or anything else externally in that area.

Not sure if you know which seals I mean, but im talking about the ones you need to strip top of pump to replace,

ah thought you meant the round seal on LDA . do it for me if you want aint got a clue how to do it. seen it done but i think id feck it up. changed it anyway seems to have stopped it abit. when i took the pin out i could see diesel hanging around the star wheel

i have a spare top half of a bosch its different but it should fit shouldnt it?

Why not pull the spare apart to see how it goes together, as long as you're careful and don't lose/break bits, you'll learn a lot from it.

is the LDA needle seal rubber?. going to take it to a diesel specialist tomorrow and get it sorted. gota be loosing power from this

That guide only covers a pump that has screw heads holding the lda pin shaft in place.
Most 306 bosch pumps ive seen have had ball bearings pressed in, which are a bit more of a ballache to remove and replace.

That's covered in the text:

If the aneroid has the ball bearings, then it is necessary to appropriately support the aneroid and use a punch and hammer to tap on one of the ball bearings until it pushes the rod far enough to push out the opposite ball bearing. Then flip the aneroid over and use the punch on the rod to tap out the remaining ball bearing and the rod itself. The ball bearings can be hammered back into place on reassembly or the holes can be tapped to 1/16 npt and allen head plugs used instead.

Right, I finally got round to fixing this on my own pump and have got stuck. It seems I need a 4.5mm allen key to get the seal out. I tried a 4mm and it was to small and a 3/16th (about 4.76mm) was too big.

It might all be in vain though as I left the pump with veg in it for years and it's a bit rusty inside. It turns ok though.

Try a torx bit. Ive often opened allens with torx, mite be 1 a size that will suit.
