Gear box

Right I've had enough of this stupid fcuking car now!

My car now won't go into 5th gear for some reason, when I try it just grinds a little. I've had alook at the gear linkages and they look fine to me.



Pissed off a lot!

need the 5th gear done...

used to do one a week when working at the pug specialist...

you can do them in situ though so no need for removal of the box

So I need to take the gear box off then?

no you dont...
it sits near the reverse gear in the end by the chassis leg if I remember correctly...

whip that end cover off and you should soon see what is up

Try pumping the clutch then putting it in 5th, might help or be enough to make do for the time being. Cant speak atm really mate, everybody is in bed already and dads up early tomorrow, dont wanna wake him up.

Tried all that already! There is no way I'm going to drive nearly 300miles in 4th gear!

start learning how to build a gearbox!!! its not as daunting as you think....

and doing the 5th gear is even easier...plus saves all the hassle and time of removal etc...

we could do the 5th replacements in less than an hour in the garage...may even be worth finding a good small pug specialist to do it

be warned the reverse tends to go at similar time to 5th due to proximity in the box

Get up to like 50mph in 4th, turn the engine off, clutch down, put it in fifth, pull the clutch up and your sorted

Tried putting it into 5th when the car ain't even moving or started and it wont

If it was me, I would take it off the road for a while. Don't go making decisions until you have thought about it and had time away from it. I nearly got rid of mine when the engine went, but I kept it, and didn't touch it for at least a month, and I am now glad I kept it and fixed it!

Get a new box, and fix it slowly. imo anyway.

I can't take it off the road as I have to travel 600 miles a week to and from work!
