Wickes, B&Q, Homebase and the sorts all tend to be overpriced, as they are more for the DIY sector. If you approach a small independent merchant, or a chain such as Jewsons, Build Centre, Travis Perkins etc, you tend to find better prices as they deal with the suppliers direct, on a more regular basis with a higher volume. Failing that, you could ring the likes of stonemarket, marketstone, bradstone, brett paving, marshals etc, and go direct cutting out the middle man. Downside of this is that it will often incur a minimum order meterage.
Good cheap slabs to look for are indian sandstone (unregulated is about £3pm cheaper) Alpha Antique Bloc paving (not too nice on a patio though) Marshals Saxon paving So it depends how big the job is, if its small, freecycle FTMFW ![]() Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club 2000 Moonstone 1.8 Meridian - Sold 2000 China 3dr XS - Dead 1998 Diablo 3dr XSI
