Try this stuff if you can get hold of some...
Used on my boras expansion tank it's still going strong after 18 months. http://www.alexshanks.com/index.php?opti...edium=base

Slap some waterproof epoxy putty in there to slow it down, then epoxy a fibreglass patch over the top (or use polyurethane adhesive, either or)

the plan is to grind the crack out and hot melt weld some plastic into it with a heat gun
goto dump all the water first!

just had a go at fixing this
have not filled it back up yet but fingers crossed after watching son videos on youtube i decided to have a go so heres the quick guide Tools wickes 2000w paint stripper gun jigsaw hand grinder large flat screwdriver water pump pumped out tank to below crack line. used grinder to clean crack area and under cut the crack. cut up strips of the same plastic from the lid. warmed area with heat gun. feed in plastic careful not to get it to hot or the plastic runs. work into the desired shape with the flat of the screwdriver. carefull not to get the screwdriver too hot or the plastic sticks to it
