Mate I know my replies are probably making you feel like its your own fault and while this is not wholy true I'd be willing to bet that you would of exacerbated the situation if the cop was already having a bad day and you started arguing with him and then getting upset its just going to make things worse.

If they make you late for work and you ask they can provide you with proof they have stopped you for your employer.
