Fair play if your going to do it that way, I would key the back of it with 80girt paper and then line it up and add a few layers of fiberglass to the back of it to give it strength then maybe fill the crack with plastic weld and sand back flush.......
With the weights, it won't take long for the calliper to "machine down" the weights to a perfect fit, and if you think 2 or 3 weights is bad you want to look at my ronals...........
