Thanks for your input guys, I put it up on the Facebook Marketplace last night and was amazed to be inundated with interest within hours, probably about 20 replies overnight. Tried getting £100, haggled to £80 to some dodgy chap earlier today; scrappers were offering me around £70. As I've not been very well and the whole thing was a very quick process I was disappointed not to be able to properly say goodbye to this noble stallion which has served me so well. Oh well.
The guy seemed to think the head gasket hadn't been done properly and was quick to pick up the keys and go without checking out the rest of it, then I [naively] waited for him to get in touch online with his address and my VC5 number (I didn't know you had to keep the entire document and thought I'd had the number written down - thankfully it turns out I had the actual number logged on my phone from a previous event so I've been able to transfer details to the DVLA using a bit of streetsmart to figure out his address; before he went cold on Facebook and his profile was no longer visible, though was from a second account I have - when I mentioned his address in a private message he was all of a sudden visible again. Me thinks a private dealer looking to fix and sell on rather than use it for a few months!).
Thanks for your help again. It was a great car and I hope it does see a bit more action. Gutted I couldn't say bye, might swing by his address in the near future and check if it's there. Next up is to get myself insured on my sisters 306 diesel. Ride on, hail the 306.
