Ah, didn't realise that. Am sure I'd read somewhere that they were the same but happy to take your word for it.

The 57mm pistons also explains the difference  in the master cylinders. Cheers for clearing that up.
Am slightly hijacking the OP's thread here but any opinions on using the 54mm pistoned calipers with 283 discs?
