You're better off going down the XUD9 route, the blocks are stronger, rev harder and much more parts available for them, I cant even comment on how easily they would fit into a 306. I know a simple xud7 to xud9 can be a nightmare alone and they are virtually the same engine.

For true doing something different style definitely go for it though, as I don't know anyone on here who has done it - maybe for a reason though
