Worth checking and replacing the brake lines that run over the tank as well whilst it's off - if they're original then they're probably distinctly worse for wear by now, and whilst I can't remember how bad 309's are in this regard, 205's are particularly prone for rusting out the brake lines just above the fuel tank where you can't easily see/inspect them.
Probably will replace the lines in all honesty. I have some copper pipe here to use so might as well.
Previous repair just wants 'scuffing' up and repainting/sealing.
Busy weekend if nothing else gets in the way.
Can relate to the 205 brake pipes, first car I had the brake line popped over the tank, Que a steady drive home...
