In a weird turn of events, insurance were doing what is apparently the 'norm' and stringing everything out and just generally taking the piss.
So when they finally came back to me with a settlement figure i told them to shove it and that i would keep the car and accept a smaller payout.
So basically minus my excess etc i ended up with a duffed megane and 2k to fix it with. Negotiated various deals etc (for all new genuine parts but from various suppliers to obtain the best discounts etc) and looks like i'll have a grand left over once its been repaired. Thats going straight in the rallye fund
So now im sat here waiting for the cheque too clear, a mobile mechanic has f*cked my HDi leaving me without transport so my mate has incredibly kindly leant me his mk7 golf GTD DSG for a couple of weeks. So appreciative of the amazing friends i have fair play.
