The gti6 box uses 6 gears to provide closer ratios for better acceleration, rather than a long top gear for cruising. It also ideally wants the steering rack swapped to account for the longer gearbox and avoid fouling on full lock, which makes it a bit of a pain in the arse to park. Not worth it imo.
