Google might answer about the resonator better but i think it works like this.
Essentially it gives better response (allegedly) and better low RPM air flow, smooths out inlet pulses or some shit like that.
Removing it sounds awesome and might add a tiny bit of top end power (not enough to notice).
I have no resonator and no problems.
