Ouch. Yeah, in your situation I'd just hang fire on the modding for now. I feel your pain though to a degree, I drove for the first 7 or 8 years as a named driver, then when I got my own insurance policy, nowhere would accept named driver ncb, so I had to start a brand new policy...proper stung even considering my age tbh. I'm 31 now, and with almost 3 years ncb I'm paying about £450 a year for my hdi, all mods declared. Getting the right insurance company helps too.
