Classic insurance is the way to go, that's what I'm planning on. Realised owning the Merc that only having a modern is not an option, and luckily classic insurance is dirt cheap for me, see the quotes:
190E 1.8 - £221
Eunos - £261
205 GTI - £284
Problem is, you can't have them as your only car, and prices shoot up with commuting, but neither of those will be an issue for you. I'm going to chop the Merc in for a 406 daily soon, and then get either a Eunos or 205 as a fun car, should still save money over just using the 190 as my daily at 20mpg
