i've never had an airbag go off in the car, but i've detonated them myself outside of the car purposely (link) and i wouldn't want one anywhere near me. they get extremely hot and make a lot of mess. i read something not long ago about someone who had an airbag impression left on their eyeball after having vision problems. they went for a scan, and a distinct airbag mesh pattern was on their actual eyeball

the other day my side airbag warning light came on on my 306 randomly and then went off after about 20 mins. at first it looked like a seatbelt warning light. my airbag circuit is faulty anyway as i've put gti6 seats into mine, and the wiring has gone kaput somewhere so the main airbag light flashed continuously so i removed the bulb
