Worst one can think of the top of my head is changing the brake discs on a friends mondeo, he would replace the pads or get the rewind tool. So instead the piston just can smashed a few times and the pads smacked on to make fit. His logic was "pads will wear away soon enough so it'll b rite"
Driving to asda saw the brakes reaching near nuclear levels of heat I told him though to do the job properly

That's terrifying.
