I absolutely love my gti-6 and it is great fun, but coming from an HDi getting 38mpg doing 70 on the motorway very sensibly and probably 28 average if driving normally will hurt.
I'm about to start commuting in mine and worked out that 11000 miles per year would cost 2460 pounds on fuel alone.
