If your friends would tease you, thats not friends in my opinion.
It does sound like you are on the edge and you have done the right thing in facing it, but as said, you need to talk with your doc about it. Even if you dont rely on drink, which it sounds like you maybe, its still a hell of a lot of alcohol you are consuming which will causr health issues at some point.
Enjoy life! It doesnt have to be enjoyed while pissed. I never get that idea of spending a load of money to only be left with no memory, a fine from the cops and a bad hangover.
