Can you get your line status? (line attentuation, noise DB margin etc)

The fluctuating speed that Toseland is talking about is DLM, (Dynamic Line management) that BT use. I cant remember if they still bother with it anymore.

Sky do use DLM to start off with..

my FTTC is 10meg up 40down and it is pretty damn close to that

Is that due to the package you chose? I know they do an up to 40 and an up to 80?
