Lol, this is effort!! But you want thicker than standard as you'll get a voltage drop cause of the extra distance 
plus you'll need to solder and insulate the original wires to the ones your putting in to the back, always use a fuse or a short can start a nasty fire in a second, not nice when going down the motor way window open at 80!
