MPG, low down torque (long as its turbo'd!) and the governer, meaning you can be lazy and drive on just the clutch, up hill, from a standing start....
Oh and the fact that you can remap them easily and cheaply if you know how for an extra kick.
That said, petrols rev, make noise and can be bought for peanuts....and don't break as often either usually!
