That 4.0 'charge is the same engine as the Aston DB7.
Most were replaced though when the make up of petrol changed so much due to the fact they were failing so early on.
They only replaced engines that were affected. Basically, the high suphur content in cheap shit fuel wore them down. Most Jaguar owners (from new) fill up premium fuel which is full of additives and generally less sulphur content, so the problem is still very much out there if you're buying one second hand

Correct but it was actually a huge amount of them that were replaced but as you say, it can be over come by using low sulphur fuel if you do pick up one with an original engine.
