Ah I see, its a slightly different system on them than I'm used to on VNT control so Im not totally sure about this.
As far as I know though, the sensor itself is just a sensor and doesn't require any setup, the sensor 'stalk' just sits on the diaphragm so it cant be adjusted. I think the shimming thing is for if you purchased the sensor and actuator together, but you'd need specialist equipment to set that up properly. You can change the sensor alone without removing the turbo, its only 3 screws. You can also change the actuator without removing the turbo if theres enough access, but as said that'd have to be setup after.
